Read This Quick Before She Makes Me Take It Down...

(My Reply to an email from my Ma tonight)

I'm crying I am laughing so hard! I am totally putting this in my blog...

Calvin & Hobbes

The Prock's have a very strong affinity for Calvin and Hobbes. Apparently it really is genetic because tonight, before bed Boone states "I want to read the boy and the tiger". I wasn't sure what he meant (silly me) so he dissappeared down the hall to get "the book". It took him quite a while and after much grunting, he came down the hall with this.

There was actually a path in the carpet down the hall where he scooted the whole box set to his bedroom. This thing is very heavy and he had to lift it off of the second shelf on our bookshelf. He really wanted to read him some "boy and the tiger".

We Have One Sad Little Man

And it is all because of these (minus the back strap of course!). Daddy and Boone went out together about 2 months ago to buy the new flip flops for the season. Tales of these fabulous "Reef Treasure Chests" (or "Trunks" as Boone calls them) were regaled to all that would listen. He wore them every chance he got and last Sunday they were misplaced.

Boone swore he looked every where and that there was no way he took them off outside. Keep in mind that "looking everywhere" for a four year old boy, well male of any age really, consists of glancing around where their feet are currently planted. Anyway, no Reefs for the past two days but today Daddy found them...with the lawnmower. I have never seen this child so distraught. He is heartbroken. I feel awful, I really do but I really think he's learned a lesson today, he needs to be the one to mow the lawn.

So I Won't Forget...

It is my arms that can wrap around him and get him to snuggle in.

It is my singing (that only he thinks is beautiful) that can make the sobbing stop.

That as he's mauling my fingers as he does every night, I can lean over and nuzzle his soft hair and inhale the sweet smell of my baby boy!

As draining as it is, I won't always be able to do that and I don't want to forget.

Happy, Happy Birthday

To my wonderful Mama and the best Gram any little boy could ask for! Thanks a million for everything that you do. I couldn't have survived my sick kiddo this weekend without you!

Hogs and Dogs

Speaking of food, we went to West Richland's "Hogs and Dogs" festival tonight. Lots of motorcycles and hot dogs! Very cool trick bikes and some not so talented face painters (actually, forearm painters). Met the Bland's and the Stevenson's to walk around for awhile.

Boone requested the Jolly Roger pirate on his arm so he could have a cool tattoo. You could see him looking back and forth between the example they had drawn on the poster and what was sadly taking shape on his arm. He was polite and said thank you even when she put GLITTER on it! Josh told him he liked the "stripper dust" on his tattoo and Boone turned to me and said "Mom, when can I wash this thing off?"

Since none of us like hot dogs, we left and went to the Brick House for Thai Pizza. I am thinking we'll skip next years event!

Total Foods

I am a total hypocrite when it comes to my kids and food. I completely admit it! Only certain very healthy things unless of course they are not very healthy things that make life easier like Kung Fu Panda Fruit Snacks and McDonalds. Yikes! So, this really cracked me up!

Go Green!

That is a cheer, not an environmental statement (although you should try to do that too).  I am so excited about the Celtics comeback, what a second half!  For some unknown reason, my not so better half has decided to pick this year to root for the Lakers.  Since when do we do that in my house?  Well we don't, so he may be sleeping outside.  No one's ever come back from 3-1 and won a championship but the Lakers are probably the team that would so I can't get too comfortable yet.  I am starting to ponder my spousal wager as I type...

Hey There Blogland!

I feel like I haven't posted anything of substance lately.  Not that Boone's big accomplishments aren't substantial, but they aren't ME stuff.  With my new job, I feel like I am just scraping by for time.  Have I even mentioned my new job?  Well, I am back full time supervising the nurses that I work with.  Our previous supervisor retired and up I moved!  I think, ultimately that will be a good thing, its just a little exhausting for now!

My herb pot is growing great.  I've been cutting the green hair (chives) and making sun-dried tomato and feta omelets with it.  Yum!  Now I need to get some tomatoes rolling and use the cilantro for salsa.  I never have much luck with tomatoes but this year I planted an heirloom and a cherry plant in one of the wine barrels.  Wish me luck!

I am so ready to spend some time on the river and by the pool this summer.  Brody is fearless (surprise, surprise) so that makes it a little tough to relax around the water.  Boone is swimming great but doesn't really realize he can touch the bottom now.  Josh picked up the Wii Fit last weekend and we've been having fun with that too, although he and Boone had a collision while trying to "head" the virtual soccer balls.

Josh is heading to work in Yakima about 1am today to get some work in during a shut down. He has another one next Tuesday and he isn't looking forward to either one.  I am so glad tomorrow is Friday though!  Hope you all have a great weekend!  Good luck to Wendy on her Big Run!  I am so proud of you!

Little Boy is Gettin' Bigger

What a day!  Feeling sad and thrilled at the same time.  My biggest little man tied his shoes today  and learned to ride a Two-Wheeler!  He's been working at both for the last week and we had a banner day this Sunday.  Josh was working outside today so I decided to try to help Boone for a bit.  We worked on balance without worrying about pedals and then on pushing off with the higher pedal.  That's all it took!  Off he went and I was running to keep up in case he went down.  It was so cool!

Josh and I are really proud and so is Boone!  He and Daddy went right out to buy a 16" bike so that his little knees aren't up to his ears every time he pedals.  It took a little more getting used to but he's doing great now

That's it!  It is so time to put a brick on his head! He just can't get any bigger...
