Shredded Boy Burritos

I was telling Josh what I was going to make for dinner on Sunday, sweet pork burritos. Boone was half listening and when I got to the part about shredding the pork roast and wrapping it in a tortilla, Boone's face crumpled. He said "Are you just joking?" When I told him no with a puzzled expression he said "You mean you're serious?" I said "Um, Yeah" and he broke into tears.

I was irritated at first because I was thinking, seriously, how bad is shredded pork roast for pork burritos?

Apparently Josh was thinking the same thing because he said "Boone stop, there is no reason to freak out"

Boone blubbered "But I don't want her to shred me up for a burrito?"

We said "What??"

"I don't want to be cut up and shredded up and be a burrito!"

I have no idea where he got that, but it took some convincing to make him understand that I did not plan to make Boone burritos. Wow! Poor little guy...no nap, super emotional, and a mom that wants to eat him for Sunday Dinner!

Seahawks Game

Since this blog is supposed to be for the whole family I thought I would give all a glimpse of Josh's day at the Seahawks Game from his perspective expecially because of the little plug about me at the end:

Steph and I went the Hawks game yesterday and had a great time. The Hawks scored at 1:30 into the game on a pass to our corner of the end zone, (maybe 100 feet away) and finished the game with a touchdown to the same corner. Awesome seats!!! 40 rows up and on the 5 yard line. The weather was incredible, and all went well... with a little "luck O' the Krieg" in our corner. On the way down to the stadium, Steph dropped his ticket. We didn't find out for a few blocks. By the time we made it back to where we thought it was about 4-5 minutes had passed.... There it was laying face down on the sidewalk!!! Basically a $100 bill sitting there!!

Had a few beers down at a tavern across the street before the game, then checked out a few venders and headed in to watch warm ups. I've only been to a Pro Basketball game and I was disappointed, the guys are so big they make the court look small which slows down the game... live. But the NFL looks faster than on TV (I thought). You can see that the receivers are about 1/2 way through their route when the QB throws the ball then 1-2 seconds and two jukes later the receiver looks and there is the ball 10 feet away and right on the money. Also those guys cover 40 yards in the blink of an eye.

I couldn't believe how loud the stadium was. Game three of the season and every defensive play it was so loud you couldn't talk. No wonder other teams hate playing here. Of course got home to check out Sports-center and heard Berman say "Well the Bengals bungled this one away in Seattle". Two NFC west titles, one NFC championship one Superbowl one leage MVP all in the last four years and apparently its just a fluke. Oh well no respect i guess.
BTW Carla is such a good wife when I told Steph if he got tickets I'd be interested in going, Carla was right there and she didn't say anything... The next day when my dumb ass realized Sunday was our 7 year anniversary and told her, as if she didn't already know, she said to go and have a good time! What a Hawks fan!!!

Fun with SLIDE...

Isn't this cool! Just trying it out and was thinking, who do I have enough pictures of to make a whole slide show. TA DA! After being best friends for 15 + years I am sure I could come up with a lot more pics of them together but...here are a few including their most recent excursion to the Seahawks game. They don't get to spend time like that together very often anymore so I am really glad they got the chance to this weekend, even if it was on our anniversary!! :)

Baby Advice

Since my sister and brother-in-law just found out they are having a baby (!!!) I decided to post all my early pregnancy/parenting advice here for you all to enjoy as I think of it.

First Point - Never Read "What to Expect" books. They are evil and will make you second guess everything and feel terribly guilty all the time. You do NOT need a book to help you do this during pregnancy. It will happen all on its own. Plus I am just not a fan of their advice in general. Elissa, I have requested a few of my books back that I loaned out and will get them to you as soon as I get them.

Second Point - As a general rule I am very supportive of natural childbirth practices. Disregard what you will, but know that is my slant.

Third Point - Same goes for breastfeeding; except the disregard part. You cannot disregard that advice. It is a priority and the best gift you will ever give your baby. And yes, most women CAN breastfeed (with a few exceptions), it just isn't a priority for them! Get help, and by that I mean call me!

Fourth Point - Although one of the things new moms look most forward to is decorating the nursery, take hand me downs and don't stress. If any of the kiddos in Travis's family are indicators, that baby will not spend much time at all in its nursery, none of them did. They all slept with their parents which brings me to my fifth point which is my very personal opinion (disclaimer)...

Fifth Point - It is okay to sleep with your baby provided you do it safely. It makes breastfeeding much easier (see point #3) and sleep much more feasible. The children will not still be sleeping with you when they attend college. You might even find time to get pregnant again in less than two years (see your sisters in law). People will start to ask you right away if the baby is sleeping through the night...politely tell them to shut up! It doesn't happen and shouldn't happen for months. Babies are not designed that way. It is not detrimental to them to wake up to eat, it is survival.

Much more to come I am sure, but that is enough for tonight!!!

Labor Day

These first pics are a little ode to all the work that Don and Katie have put into their yard this year. Not that they really do the yard justice, they were just more fun to photograph. I LOVE this bird feeder! Mr. Ugly has been around Josh's grandma's ever since he can remember.

Isn't he just the cutest? He was holding that for daddy...really!!!

One very sultry look, actually more like an annoyed look that I was trying to take his picture yet again. And I wonder why after 14 years together I can count the photos of us taken together on two hands.

Really miss hanging out with crazy Rocky! Love those horseshoe throwers!

If you can't tell, we spent most of Labor Day weekend at Josh's parents house. Lots of swimming and eating and sun!

Banner

Like my new banner?? I apparently still have the resolution just a little off. Brody's eyes are almost off the page. I'll have to work on that some more. Hope you all had a nice Labor(less) Day! I post some fun pics after I get them downloaded.

Forgot to post to wish my mother-in-law Katie a very Happy Birthday on the 29th! I did remember to go visit with a gift however!

Happy day to my cousin Melissa and Josh's Uncle George this weekend!
